About the Sons:
Squadron #5 Activities
American Legion Post 5 © 2023
The Sons were founded in 1932, to honor the services and sacrifice of Legionnaires.
S.A.L. members include males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and were eligible for American Legion membership.
Although the S.A.L. has its own membership, the organization is not a separate organization. The S.A.L. is a program of The American Legion. Many Legionnaires hold dual membership in both the American Legion and the Sons of the American Legion.
The S.A.L. organization is divided into detachments at the state level and squadrons at the local level. A squadron is a partner with the local American Legion Post. The squadron charter is contingent upon the American Legion Post's charter.
Squadrons can determine the extent of their services to the community, state and nation. They are permitted flexibility in planning programs and activities to meet their needs, but must remember the S.A.L's mission: to strengthen the four pillars of The American Legion.
Squadrons' programs and activities focus on preserving American traditions and values, improving the quality of lief for our children, caring for veterans and their families and teaching good citizenship.
